Maid of the Loch

About Maid of the Loch
Loch Lomond Steamship Company, best known for Paddle Steamer Maid of the Loch, is a volunteer-run Scottish charity dedicated to returning this historic vessel to sailing on Loch Lomond. Saved from sinking in 1995, the ship has since been restored through thousands of volunteer hours and is currently undergoing major work on the slipway at Balloch Pier. Everyone is welcome to visit Maid of the Loch and experience a rare opportunity to explore a working shipyard while restoration continues. Alongside the historic ship, visitors can enjoy the museum cabin, steam slipway and café on the pier, as well as nearby attractions including beaches, woodland walks, boat trips, a sea life aquarium, outdoor activities and shopping. The site offers a great day out on the shores of Loch Lomond, with visitors welcomed back from spring 2026.
